The U. P. Streetdance Club made its successful debut by hosting the first ever Philippines Hip-Hop Summit with the theme: “Dance Away from Drugs” in 1999. This was a groundbreaking event, following the hip-hop trend initiated by such notable universities abroad as Princeton University and Yale University. The Summit was towards gathering a number of physical educators, academicians, dance instructors and choreographers, coaches, students and enthusiasts. First in line in line of the activities in the Summit was a seminar conducted by distinguished by fitness and dance experts. They discussed various topics involving health, nutrition and dance studies.
